Упражнение 1.

1️⃣ to be in for (something)

📍 Значение: ожидать чего-то (часто неприятного или неожиданного).
📘 Пример: It looks as if we’re in for some rain.
🗣 Перевод: Похоже, нас ждёт дождь.

2️⃣ to be through (with something)

📍 Значение 1: закончить что-либо.
📘 I’m through with my homework. — Я закончил домашнее задание.
📍 Значение 2: покончить с кем-то/чем-то (в отношениях, делах).
📘 He’s through with her. — Он с ней покончил / расстался.

3️⃣ to be off with / on with (something/somebody)

📍 Значение: разорвать старые отношения и начать новые.
📘 Be off with the old love before you are on with the new.
🗣 Расстанься со старой любовью, прежде чем начнёшь новую.

4️⃣ to be about (somewhere)

📍 Значение: быть поблизости, где-то неподалёку.
📘 There’s nobody about. — Здесь никого нет.

5️⃣ to be wrong about (something)

📍 Значение: ошибаться насчёт чего-то.
📘 I was wrong about him. — Я ошибался насчёт него.

6️⃣ to be above (a number / doing something)

📍 Значение: быть выше / превышать / быть выше чего-то морально.
📘 The number of passengers must not be above three. — Не более трёх пассажиров.
📘 He’s above lying. — Он слишком честен, чтобы лгать.

7️⃣ to be abreast of (something)

📍 Значение: быть в курсе, следить за развитием событий.
📘 Stay abreast of the news. — Будь в курсе новостей.

8️⃣ to get / put (somebody) through to (someone)

📍 Значение: соединить по телефону.
📘 Please, put me through to the manager. — Соедините меня с менеджером, пожалуйста.

9️⃣ to be on about (something) (брит. разговорное)

📍 Значение: всё время говорить о чём-то, надоедать разговорами.
📘 She’s still on about her new diet. — Она всё ещё болтает о своей новой диете.

🔟 to be after (something / somebody)

📍 Значение: стремиться получить что-то / преследовать цель / охотиться за.
📘 He’s only after your money. — Ему нужны только твои деньги.
